History

Intent Statement

History has always been held in high regard at Houghton Regis Primary School, with the school’s local area being a celebrated feature of our local study. The history curriculum at Houghton Regis Primary School makes full use of the resources within the immediate and wider local area, enabling children to develop a deep understanding of the rich history in their local area.

Topics are informed by the national curriculum and are considerate of the children’s interests, as well as the context of the local area. Our curriculum prides itself on the inclusion of multi-culturalism, both in our study of British history and the wider world history. We strive to ensure our curriculum is carefully planned and structured to ensure learning builds on previous learning.

In line with the national curriculum 2014, the curriculum at Houghton Regis Primary School aims to ensure that all pupils:

We aim to inspire and broaden the minds of all our pupils, from all backgrounds, by immersing them within their period of study. Where possible, trips will be included to support the children’s learning.
